Slurry, air setting, cone 10 mortar and patching compound. Sodium Silicate is the binder and requires no heating to set. Can be used for floors, arches, and walls, but is excellent for repairs, damper guides on the tops of kiln arches, and areas where there is limited heat to set the mortar. When handling, wear latex or rubber gloves and eye protection. This mortar sets up very fast, so you need to have a clean bucket of water and a sponge handy to clean up as you go. This product can settle and may need to be mixed before using. As with all mortars, any sulfates that come to the surface of a kiln wall after drying must be removed with a stiff brush.
