Saturday, 8am-12pm. You will explore working with cone 5 porcelain paper clay and the advantage of wet on dry assemblage. You will recieve a fresh cone 5 slip cast teapot that you will trim and apply your own special style with Papel porcelain paper clay additions. So bring your favorite tools, a sketchbook, and be prepared to be amazed with the results you can achieve that you would not get with traditional claybodies. 14 students max. Workshop -       Brush and Chatter Tool Making with Don Jennings - May 17th

Details 

Saturday, 8am-5pm. Don Jennings will demonstrate & provide thorough examples of wrapping brushes & the techniques of applying the French knot and the slip knot, and how to finish the bamboo brush. The student should regard the experience as creating a functional sculptural form that has a positive effect on your creative obsessions. You may want to embellish your brush or chatter tool with drift wood, antler, bone, old buttons, beads, and old coins, etc. Click on the image for additional details. 20 students max.

Workshop -       Low Tech Printing on Clay with Cory Olewnik - June 7

Details 

Saturday, 8am-12pm. In this workshop, students will learn techniques to transfer a hand painted image onto a clay slab which can then be shaped into any number of forms using molds and/or templates. These processes are surprisingly versatile, and will introduce students to the general process of image transfer onto clay. Other transfer processes will be discussed as well, and students will use their printed slabs to create tiles and simple pottery forms. 12 students max. Saturday, 8:00am-12:00pm. Spend Saturday morning with ceramic artist Eimsuk. In this hands-on nature relief workshop, Eimsuk will instruct you on the tools and techniques of low relief carving. You will also learn, how she creates a beautiful orchid plate with a Hawaiin gecko embellishment..
