Cone 06 Glazes, Underglazes, & Decorating Colors

This frit based formulation is stable at cone 06 - cone 04, but glossier at cone 04. It is high in Calcium so that all of the Mason Stains work well with it. It exhibits low expansion upon cooling which makes for a great glaze fit on most low fire commercial bodies. Great for on-glaze Majolica brush work. Most Mason Stains will require 6-7% additions by dry weight to create a colored glaze. Mason Stain 6003(Mazerine) will only need a 3% addition to the base, and all inclusion stains, purples, crimsons, and peaches will need 10% additions by dry weight. No Lead or Barium. Add approximately 3/4 pint of water per pound of glaze for a medium thickness. Mix well and then screen. To make brushable, add 1.5% CMC powder to the dry base and mix thoroughly before mixing with water. Price breaks per lb. are available at 5, 10, 50, and 100 lb. amounts in checkout.

Click on image to view entire glaze line. For application by dipping or pouring, thorough stirring of the glaze is necessary since the crystals settle to the bottom of the jar. A more controlled decorative effect can be obtained by brushing. Dip the brush in the glaze at the top of the jar and apply two or more coats. Lift the crystals from the bottom of the jar with the brush and place where desired. Crystals fan out on flat horizontal surfaces and run on vertical pieces.
